Clamping a board or other workpiece vertically to a workbench, table, countertop or sawhorse can be challenging—especially if the object you're working on is large and cumbersome or there's no vise to use. Even a conventional front or tail vise on a workbench doesn't always offer the versatility you need for the job at hand. That's where our Hold-It Bench Clamps can come to the rescue! Think of them as pairs of modified C-clamps that fasten together. These multipurpose clamps can mount to the edge of any worksurface up to 2-1/2'' thick and grip workpieces up to 1-9/16'' thick. The ''bench'' component of the clamp secures to the edge of your worksurface with a robust Acme threaded post/foot and Easy-to-Grip T-knob. The clamp's ''workholding'' component attaches to the bench component with a single hex-drive flathead screw. It can be configured to hold a workpiece above the worksurface—either parallel or perpendicular to the worksurface's clamped edge—or alongside and in front of the worksurface. Switching between these clamping options is as easy as removing the hex screw, rearranging the top clamp on the bottom clamp and reinstalling the screw. The top clamp features a quick-release button on its Acme screw mechanism for fast, easy adjustment to different material thicknesses.
