When you have to trim a large area flush with the surrounding surface, don't reach for a sander first, reach for a router. That is, if the router is equipped with our Flush-Cutting Jig. You'll save time, sandpaper, and you'll get a better, flatter result. It's the perfect solution for flush-trimming bow tie/butterfly keys, inlay work, dowel ends, pegged joints, and a wide variety of other inlay applications. The jig features two adjustable arms that can be arranged to provide maximum support for the router sub-base. The slot movement provides a maximum routing area of about 4-1/2'', and the jig itself can be moved laterally without limit. Attach it to any compact or midsize router with a baseplate that accepts a standard guide bushing.
Rockler Flush-Cutting Router Jig Details:
- Unique base with swing-out outrigger arms lets you use your router to flush-trim large bow tie inlay keys, small screw plugs, epoxy spillover and more!
- Works with any compact or midsize router that has a baseplate that accepts standard guide bushings
- Jig features rigid 1/4''-thick anodized aluminum plate that straddles area being routed flush and is supported by the plastic base and outrigger arms
- Dual motion—you slide the router along a slot in the aluminum plate, as well as move the base on the workpiece, enabling you to cover more ground for trimming larger inlays such as big bow tie inlays
- Elongated base, outrigger arms and specially designed 2-1/2''-tall Easy-to-Grip Knob provide stability and control
- Includes plastic shim for setting bit cutting depth 0.01'' above final surface to minimize sanding
- Outrigger arms swing out to make space for larger inlays and swing back in for smaller applications such as routing screw plugs—detents hold arms in place
- Specially designed bushing and nut allow router to slide on smooth aluminum plate without play for even results
- Aluminum plate features laser-etched centerlines so you can visualize the maximum 4-1/2'' of bit travel
- Outrigger arms provide 3/8'' of clearance under plate, so height of material being flush-trimmed can't exceed that dimension
- Hang hole for easy storage on a pegboard
