heavy duty bed rail brackets

If you love DIY woodworking projects, building your own bed frame can be an affordable and rewarding project that allows you to customize the size, material, and design to suit your space and style. One of the key components to ensure a sturdy and reliable bed frame is using quality bed rail brackets or fasteners.

These popular Bed rail fasteners from Rocker offer several advantages:

  • Strong & Secure: They create a tight, stable connection between the bed rails and headboard/footboard.
  • Professional Look: Concealed hardware keeps the design clean and polished.
  • Easy to Assemble & Disassemble: Perfect for moving or storage without damaging the wood.

These fasteners require mortises in both the bed rails and posts for proper installation. The video below walks through creating these mortises and securely attaching the bed rail brackets, ensuring a sturdy and easily detachable bed frame.

Key Steps In The Video

1 - Measure and Mark - Determine where the bed rail fastener will be placed on each side of the bed frame. Carefully measure and mark the exact location for the mortise on the inside of each bed rail.

2 - Cut the Mortise - Using a chisel, router table or handheld router, cut a rectangular recess (mortise) in the marked area of the bed rail. Ensure the depth is set so the male connector sits flush with the surface.

3 - Test the Fit - Before securing the connector, place the male fastener into the mortise to check for a proper fit and alignment. Make any necessary adjustments. Attach the Connector - Drill pilot holes in the mortise to prevent wood from splitting. Then, use screws to firmly secure the male connector in place, ensuring a tight & stable fit.
