Use the Hold Fast Wood Stabilization Vacuum Bag to strengthen large blanks that are soft, punky or prone to tear out on the lathe. A vacuum bag is used when the turning blank is too large to fit into a vacuum chamber. Simply insert your turning blank into the bag with the appropriate amount of Stick Fast Stabilizing Resin (e.g. #68198, sold separately). For vacuum, you can use a vacuum pump, or the V812 Vacuum Generator (#66133) paired with an ordinary compressor. Once vacuum is applied, the air is rapidly drawn out of the wood and the resin is absorbed into the wood in its place. After curing in an oven (even a toaster oven will do), the blanks are incredibly strong, stable and ready for turning.
Note: You will still have to use a Vacuum Chamber (e.g. #66337, sold separately) as a trap to prevent resin from being drawn into the vacuum.
