Hold Fast Wood Stabilization Vacuum Chamber

Use these Wood Stabilization Chambers to strengthen soft, punky or figured wood and burls that would otherwise tear out on the lathe. Simply set your turning blanks in the appropriately sized chamber and submerge with Stick Fast Stabilizing Resin (e.g. #68198, sold separately). For vacuum, you can use a vacuum pump, or the V812 Vacuum Generator (#66133) paired with an ordinary compressor. Once vacuum is applied, the air is rapidly drawn out of the wood and the resin is absorbed into the wood in its place. After curing in an oven (even a toaster oven will do), the blanks are incredibly strong, stable and ready for turning.

Notes:

• Some vacuum pumps can be affected by the Stabilizing Resin; please check with the manufacturer before using
• We recommend pre-vacuuming the wood. Then add the resin through the bottom port while the wood is still under vacuum. This greatly reduces the initial foaming and allows the resin to penetrate better
• Monitor the resin level while adding resin so it doesn't overfill the chamber and get pulled into the vacuum source
