If you have older cabinets with hinges that fit into a T-shaped slot in the door edge and a matching slot in the face frame, it's likely they are double demountable hinges. Double demountable hinges are easily removed from both the door and cabinet by loosening just two integral Phillips head screws, which hold the hinge in place with two clamping plates. The precursors to modern Euro hinges, double demountables also offer self-closing action and easy 3-way adjustability, since the clamping plates have adjustment room inside the slot mortises. Choose from either 1/4'' or 1/2'' overlay.
Notes:
- These hinges are for overlay doors (no part of the door sits inside the face frame). Be sure to measure your overlay before purchasing retrofit hinges for existing cabinets
- Double demountable hinges are also available in a 3/8'' inset design for rabbeted doors (see e.g. #68092)
- Overlay demountables are also available in a single demountable design, which has a slot in the door only (see e.g. #23347, sold separately). Be sure to buy matching hinges for retrofit applications
