A beautiful natural mineral with a pearlescent white color, crystal calcite is a versatile material for a range of different inlay projects. It can be used in its natural state, or dyed to the hues of other famous gemstones: ruby red, sapphire blue, jade green and more. You can also mix in other reflective materials like mother-of-pearl, paua abalone or metal filings to add depth and shimmer.

Features:

  • On the Mohs Hardness Scale, calcite has a hardness of 3.0—easily sanded with silicon carbide or aluminum oxide sandpaper, which has a hardness of 9.0
  • Durable and takes an excellent polish—perfect for any inlay project
  • Coarse crystals can be ground finer if desired
  • Can be used dry with CA glue or wet with resins like epoxy

Note: Calcite is a natural mineral. There may be variations in color and minor impurities which only add to its overall natural appeal.
